Felipe Massa wint in Turkije eerste GP

Verrassende winnaar in Turkije. Niet de titanen Alonso of Schumacher op het hoogste schavotje, wel de Braziliaan Felipe Massa die zijn eerste GP wint. De Ferrari-rijder pakte zaterdag ook al de eerste pole uit zijn carrière en bezweek vandaag alles behalve onder de druk. In de WK-stand is het echter Fernando Alonso die, ook ietwat verrassend, na een spannende tweestrijd net voor Schumacher op de tweede plaats eindigde en zijn voorsprong op Schumi terug vergroot tot twaalf punten. Met nog vier wedstrijden te gaan, waarvan drie circuits die Alsonso best genegen zijn, lonkt een tweede opeenvolgende wereldtitel voor de Spaanse machtsmens.

Perfecte Massa
Met zijn eerste GP-zege snoert Massa de kritikasters, die hem niet voldoende vinden voor het tweede Ferrari-zitje, meteen de mond. Al had Massa ook het nodige geluk in Istanboel. Omdat de twee Ferrari's op hetzelfde moment de pits indoken -het cruciale moment van deze GP- verloor het nummer twee Schumacher cruciale seconden door op zijn ploegmaat te moeten wachten. Alonso, zelf ook een eerste keer de pits in, maakte daar handig gebruik van om zich tussen de twee Ferrari's te nestelen. Waardoor het voor Ferrari meteen ook onmogelijk werd Massa door Schumacher te laten voorbijsteken. Hoezeer Schumi trouwens nog probeerde zelf voorbij Alonso te geraken, de ijzig kalme Spanjaard viel niet meer te passeren. Bovendien reed Massa, in tegenstelling tot Schumacher die zich halfweg liet betrappen op een stuurfoutje, de quasi perfecte race met dikwijls de snelste rondetijden. 

Start met brokken
Voor de start in Istanboel was er veel te doen over de omstreden massademper die niet meer mocht gebruikt worden, wat vooral Renault zou pijn doen. Maar in de WK-stand deed Alsono toch alweer de beste zaken en proeft hij een tweede WK-zege. Met 108 punten telt de Spanjaard nu 12 punten meer dan Schumacher. Massa volgt als derde pas op 62 stuks. In de stand om de constructeurs nadert Ferrari wel tot twee puntjes van Renault. Naast het beklijvende tweegevecht tussen Alonso en Schumacher in de slotrondes leverde Istanboel ook een spectaculaire start op. Schumi hield Alonso maar nipt af, maar voor de slecht gestarte Fisichella en vooral Raikkonen was er meer schade. Al na een paar rondes moest de vliegende Fin zelfs de strijd staken met zowel een kapotte achtervleugel als achterband. Fisichella, die een tik kreeg van Heidfeld, kon wel verder en eindigde als zesde nog in de WK-punten. Maar na Button, die vandaag trouwens ook knap vierde werd, begin deze maand in Hongarije pakt nu ook Massa zijn eerste GP-zege. Kunnen de motorgekke Brazilianen na een matte sportzomer toch nog eens juichen.
